Underwater finds in GTA 6

Underwater finds are not a category of their own but a trait: items from various sets that cannot be reached without gear. Leonida will hold plenty, because water covers half the map.

checkable facts forecast, not fact
There is no item list on this page yet, and that is deliberate. Nobody has exact coordinates before 19 November: there is no PC version at launch, so nobody is unpacking the game files. Everything below about GTA 5 and RDR 2 is checkable fact. Everything about GTA 6 is inference about how it will be built, not about what will actually be there. The map fills up from day one, every marker with a link to its source.

What is known

This is no longer just a forecast: the “An Extended Look” showcase of 27 August showed scuba diving. It showed no underwater finds, but diving in Leonida is confirmed. GTA 5 let you dive — and two of its four major sets ended up on the seabed: nuclear waste and submarine parts, thirty each. RDR 2 had no diving, and no underwater sets at all.

Leonida is Florida: the Keys, the coast, the wetlands. Water here is not scenery but half the playable space. Rockstar is unlikely to leave it empty.

Where to look

What usually sits under water in Rockstar games:

Kind of placeExample from earlier gamesWhat makes it hard
Chains along the bottom Nuclear waste in GTA 5 ran in a line along the coast Thirty dives in a row, and air to watch
Wrecks Sunken ships and aircraft Tight inside, easy to lose the way out
Under jetties Items in the shadow of port structures Dark, and the marker sits under the decking
Fresh water Sunken things in lakes and channels Murky, with nothing to navigate by
Beach shallows The first items of a set began near the shore Deceptive: looks reachable, still needs a dive

Which gives a simple rule: the underwater half is done as its own trip, not on the way to something else. That is why the gear filter answers not 'what is here' but 'what will I lift with what I carry'.

What does not open straight away

What it takes to reach the bottom:

EquipmentScuba gear, and a boat for anything far out. In GTA 5 two sets were physically unreachable without a submersible.
MoneyThe Sonar Collections Dock in GTA 5 cost $250,000 and unlocked the underwater half.
WeatherA storm changes underwater visibility. On the seabed that is the difference between searching and wandering.
Story progressDiving equipment did not arrive at the start in earlier games.

Orange depends on how far you have played. Blue depends on what you brought with you.

Using the map

The map can show only what scuba gear reaches. This is not a category but an equipment filter: markers from every category remain, as long as scuba is enough for them.

Open the map: with scuba gear The whole of Leonida

Add a region and you get, say, every underwater marker in the Leonida Keys. That is where most of them will be: water covers most of the chain.

What appears after launch

From 19 November this page will carry the underwater list with a counter, depth, hints and a source link on every marker.

Underwater markers take longer to confirm than the rest: verifying a find on the seabed means diving to it. So the yellow unconfirmed drop will linger here longer than on land.
